Sundholm Heritage House – Ein Fenster in die Geschichte von Öja
The main house at Sundholm Heritage House dates back to the 1850s and was relocated from Kyrkbacken in Kokkola in the late 19th century. The house became vacant after Rakel Thodén (née Sundholm) passed away, having spent her entire life at Sundholm. Neither Rakel nor her brother Wilhelm had any descendants. To honor her wishes, Rakel left the house to the people of Öja. At her request, a foundation was established to preserve the heritage house.
The house was carefully restored, and the grand reopening of Sundholm Heritage House took place in the summer of 2017.
Much of the home has been preserved as it was during Rakel’s time, with original furniture and beautiful objects offering a glimpse into her life.
The serene atmosphere and charming rooms of Sundholm Heritage House have already delighted many visitors.
