Le sauna, l'essence du bien-être nordique

Welcome to a soul-soothing summer journey along the Bothnian Coastal Route, where nature, wellness and culture meet in perfect harmony. This unique cross-border experience invites you to unwind in some of the region’s most beautiful sauna spots, from smoke saunas to modern spa havens, while embracing the slow rhythm of Nordic summer days.

As a fun nod to our cultural connection is the fact that Finnish band KAJ is representing Sweden in this year’s Eurovision with a heartwarming sauna tribute. It’s a playful reminder of how sauna culture unites us – and how the spirit of cooperation runs deep along our shared coastline. The Finnish sauna – proudly listed by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage – is more than a tradition; it’s a way of life. Pair that with forest walks, wild swimming, local flavors, and endless daylight, and you have a tour that truly nourishes body and mind.

Join us on this cross-border celebration of Nordic wellbeing.

Did you know that Finnish sauna is a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage? When visiting the public saunas over the coming days, listen to your fellow sauna buddies (Finns) on their thoguhts and feelings about sauna. Finns are known for not speaking too much, but you can sense the profound respect they have for the institution.

Today’s sauna experience is on a sauna raft and you can enjoy cooling swims between the “löylys”. There is also a hot tub to relax in.

Overnight and dinner at Nordic Art Hotel Lasaretti.

If you prefer a meditative nature wellbeing experience, then a guided hike by Siiponjoki is just for you.

Every Wednesday and Sunday the smoke sauna in Linnakallio is heated and well visited by the locals. Village Sauna welcomes also guests with smiles and warm sauna hospitality. The locals gather here for wellbeing and also to socialize. The fresh pond offers soothing refershment between the heats.
