Alfred’s nomadic spirit was already aflame even before travelling became fashionable, and the images of the world were yet to flood into homes through the television. That era, when the world was perceived with fresh eyes, insatiable curiosity, andboundless excitement, feels like only yesterday. From his countless journeys, he brings forth endless tales and a suitcase full of recipes, tried and tested in the mess halls of ships. Nowadays, Alfred’s wanderlust has become more subtle. Noticing his brother Gustav settling down in Rovaniemi, the notion of returning to his beloved hometown, Oulu, warmed his heart as well. Oulu was where affectionate embraces and fishing trips with his grandchildren awaited him. Dear friends, tasty food and good drinks are of paramount importance to Alfred. Hence, he dedicates himself with unwavering devotion, not only exerting utmost effort but also gracing the kitchen with his melodious songs, all in the pursuit of crafting exquisite delicacies for his loved ones that only unwavering decades of experience can conjure.
