Snow-fun with Alpin Rodel, an Arctic learning experience

Snow luge is the original form of sledging and is done on snow with specially adapted sledges and has the most practitioners of tobogganing in Sweden. During the winter of 2025, Sweden’s largest club, Skesled, based in Skellefteå, offers visitors and locals the opportunity to try and learn “alpine rodel” at our ski resort, just outside the town centre.

The activity includes safety instructions, theory and how to get started on a gentle slope. Afterwards, all participants have the opportunity to try their skills on an easier course- great fun!

The activity ends with hot drinks and a snack around the outdoor fireplace, and a certificate is included for guests who complete the experience.

The activity is led by experienced instructors, are suitable for all ages from 8 years upwards and no previous experience is required. Warm winter clothing and sturdy shoes/boots are recommended.
