Snowshoe hiking trip by Siiponjoki 10:00-12:00
On this tour you get to know the tall pine tree forests and the meandering river, that cuts through the sandbanks all
the way to the sea. We recommend this tour for children from 6 yrs.
We start by going through the use of snowshoes and the correct technique to walk with them before taking off. You
are accompanied by a local guide, hiking along Siiponjoki's nature trails. The hike takes you through barren pine
forests to the riverbank. On the way you can watch e.g., sand ramparts of the ancient beach. Siiponjoki has a
considerable historical and geographical value and is protected area. In the wintertime the river is frozen, with some
free-flowing places by the rapids.
During the snack break we fry sausages and have some hot beverages at a lean-to shelter.
