Hägnan open-air museum in Gammelstad
At the open-air museum Hägnan in Gammelstad you get to travel back in time and learn more about the everyday life in the old farming community in the North of Sweden from the late 18th Century to the mid-20th Century. From mid-June to mid-August the farmsteads are open to public and the calendar packed with various holiday activities, markets and events. Stroll around in beautiful surroundings, visit the farmsteads, stop for a coffee at the café and check out the country store, where you can get a glimpse of what a traditional village shop in the 1940s could look like. Hägnan is very popular place to celebrate Swedish Midsummer in June. During the winter season the farmsteads are only open for specific events and activities as for example the Christmas market in early December. You are however always welcome to send in a booking request for a guided tour or some other activity that Hägnan has to offer. The outdoor area is open all year round.
